About JHC
Our Mission
The Jordan Hospital Club is a nonprofit whose mission is to raise money and awareness for our community hospital – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (BID-Plymouth) – a 170-bed, acute-care, not-for-profit facility, committed to delivering first-rate clinical care with compassion, dignity and respect – regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
Recognizing that having excellent healthcare close to home requires our financial support, the Club hosts a number of fundraisers throughout the year – among them: the Polar Plunge to benefit the JHC Cancer Center; a Fashion Show to benefit Fragile Footprints; a Golf Tournament for Cranberry Hospice; the Duxbury Lawn Party; and Hopefest to raise funds for the hospital’s Integrated Healthcare and Substance Use Collaborative.
Our Annual Appeal, the JHC Gift Shop and our membership dues help us provide teddy bears for young emergency room patients, hibiclens wash for surgical outpatients, and scholarships for nursing staff.
It is important to note that all money raised stays in the community and is only used for programs at BID-Plymouth.

Our Heritage
In December 1900 the townspeople of Plymouth voted to form the Jordan Hospital, named for its first benefactor, Eben D. Jordan, a summer resident of Plymouth who donated $20,000 to purchase the land and build the hospital. Jordan Hospital received its charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1901 and opened in 1903.
The Jordan Hospital Club began in 1906 as a group of eight women who helped the hospital by wrapping bandages, sterilizing instruments and performing duties to aid the nursing staff. Now over 100 years after its founding, the Jordan Hospital Club has grown to more than 350 members, raising thousands of dollars a year to help support many programs at BID-Plymouth.
